A message from Council
Waskatenau is a clean and friendly community with small town country
living style and a close proximately to the "bright city lights". Our
village of 280 residents is located about 100 km Northeast of Edmonton
where Highways #28 and #831 intersect. The Village's highway location
provides direct access North to Fort McMurray, East to Cold Lake Air
Base and West to Edmonton.
A strong agricultural base support our major economic strength of retail
trade and services. Waskatenau has many amenities of large center, but
still has the safety, friendliness and hospitality of a community of
caring neighbours. The business community is pleased to offer many
services or goods that you may require with additional services within a
short fifteen-minute drive.
Qualities such as, low
tax rates, clean air and water, affordable housing and vacant
residential and commercial lots, safe neighborhoods and low user rates
for recreational activities, make our town the ideal community to live
in and raise a family. Young families and senior citizens all find
plenty of reasons to call Waskatenau home.
Waskatenau is rich in recreation, cultural and entertainment activities.
Facilities include an arena-equine center, a community hall,
drop-in-center for seniors, a curling rink, skating rink, skateboard
park, overnight campground facilities, playgrounds, a nature trail,
public library and two fully developed baseball facilities, earning
Waskatenau the name "Baseball Capital Of Alberta".
Waskatenau has a fully
equipped volunteer Fire Department and school. We are also a short drive
to a host of cultural and recreational amenities including numerous
Provincial Parks, lakes and rivers.
Waskatenau is very proud of its volunteers and citizens. Civic pride and
community involvement is at high level as there are many opportunities
for residents and businesses to make a major impact on style and quality
of life.
Whether you are a resident, a prospective business or a tourist, the
Village of Waskatenau invites you to browse our website and find out
more on what we have to offer.
